It is with heavy hearts that we are writing to you this morning to share the news of cancellation for the 2020 CACE Conference in Victoria, BC. After hearing from CACE members, careful deliberation amongst the Executive, and being responsive to the pandemic, it was determined that the ability to host a conference to what we have come to expect would not be possible.
As professional communicators in education, we need to be accountable to our districts and continue to support our communities through these uncertain times. As some provinces reopen their buildings this school year and others focus on the 2020-21 school year, there will continue to be many unknowns. The health and safety of all is paramount and trying to host a conference at this time does not make sense.
At this time, we hope to return to Victoria in 2021. However, we will continue to monitor the situation, follow public health recommendations, and connect with CACE members for input. We will communicate more information as it becomes available.
We are not going to stop providing professional development opportunities to members to help them learn, refine and grow as a #schoolPR professional.
We are working to deliver a Virtual CACE Conference in Fall 2020. More information and details to follow.
As always, feel free to contact Ryan Strang, national conference chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
